How does efile work? IRS e-file Online
Your tax return is completed on a personal computer and transmitted by secure connection to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS e-file Online checks the return and notifies the transmitter (either you or your tax preparer) whether the return is accepted or rejected. If the IRS e-file Online accepts your federal return (usually within 24 hours), the state return is transmitted to the California Franchise Tax Board. The state return is usually received within three days of the initial transmission. Both the IRS e-file Online and the department issue acknowledgments (electronic confirmations) when the federal and state returns are received and accepted. OnLine Taxes will send you an e-mail notification of the acknowledgement, or you can log in at any time to check on the status of your return. IRS e-file Online is simple, fast and secure with OnLine Taxes.
