State Only Filing - General Information
State Only filing allows you to file your State Income Tax Return separate from your Federal Income Tax Return.
**Arkansas does not participate in State Only Electronic Filing.
If you are filing a State Return for one of the listed states, you will need to either file your State Return along with your Federal Return, or you may print the state forms and mail them in.
All other states allow State Income Tax Returns to be electronically filed as State Only Income Tax Returns as well as filed combined with your Federal Income Tax Return.
Why would I file my State Return by itself?
A few reasons why you may need to file your State Income Tax Return separately from your Federal Income Tax Return:
- The State Income Tax Return was sent back needing corrections and needs to be resubmitted.
- The Federal Income Tax Return was already filed.
- The State Income Tax return requires a different filing status than the Federal Income Tax Return.
There are many other reasons why it would be necessary to file a State Only Income Tax Return.
