 HS-139 Property Tax Rebate
This program assists homeowners in paying property taxes on their homestead.

2005 Homeowner Property Tax Rebate Claim
You may be eligible for a rebate portion of last year's property taxes if you:

  • Had $47,000 or less household income in tax year 2005
  • Are not claimed as a dependent by another tax payer in tax year 2005
  • Were a VT resident for al of calendar year 2005
  • Owned and occupied the property as your homestead on December 31, 2005
This claim is filed on Form HS-139 and must be filed by December 1, 2006. Late filed forms cannot be accepted. No extension is available.

The rebate is available upon processing. You can also use the rebate to pay your 2005 Vermont income tax. If you filed the homeowner property tax rebate claim and income tax return together, a single check combining the rebate and any refund will be issued.
