The Privacy Policy is part of OLT's applicable user agreements. By accepting the agreement or using the website, software or services, users agree to the policy's collection, use and disclosure practices. OLT reserves the right to modify the policy and says material changes may be communicated electronically, by email or through website notices.
Personal and tax information:
The policy identifies information such as name, Social Security number, email and mailing address, income, dependents and other financial information provided when preparing and filing a return.
Registration: Name and email may be used for account verification, customer service, annual reminders and service-related communications.
Financial information: Payment and banking data may be collected for payment processing or direct deposit. The policy says financial information is used to process transactions.
The current policy says OLT generally does not disclose personal information to unaffiliated third parties and specifically says it does not share, sell or rent personal information to third-party advertisers or spammers. It describes limited disclosures including customer-directed disclosures, filed tax returns sent to tax authorities, service providers, legal/regulatory requests, fraud prevention, emergencies and certain business transactions.
OLT states that sensitive information entered on order forms is encrypted during transmission using SSL technology and that access to user information in its offices is restricted to employees who need it for their jobs. The policy also states that no Internet transmission or electronic storage method is 100% secure and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
The policy says OLT collects certain technical information automatically, including browser type, referring URL and usage information, to analyze trends, administer the website and improve services. OLT and partners may use cookies or similar technologies, and disabling cookies may limit some site features.
Third-party websites linked from OLT may have different privacy practices. Social-media features may collect IP address and page activity and may set cookies. Interactions with those features are governed by the third party's privacy policy.
The policy says OLT's website, software and services are intended for users age 18 and older and that OLT will not knowingly collect or use personal information from individuals it knows are under 18. A parent or guardian may still enter tax data for a taxpayer under 18.
The policy describes information that may be collected through live chat, including name, email and device/browser information, and states that it is used to communicate about the customer's inquiry.
Access and individual rights
OLT's policy says users may ask whether the company holds or processes their information and may request correction, deletion or that OLT stop certain uses, subject to identity verification, tax-record retention, regulatory obligations and other legal limitations.
OLT states that it is a financial institution subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Except as necessary to provide tax-preparation services or as authorized by law, the policy says OLT will not use or disclose Tax Information unless the customer consents.
The live policy contains dedicated notices for California, Colorado, Connecticut and Virginia, including state-specific rights, exemptions, identity verification and other requirements. In production, these should remain accessible in full rather than being replaced by the summary view.
Questions or requests?
The live policy directs users to Customer Service or Privacy@olt.com and lists On-Line Taxes, Inc., 724 Jules Street, Saint Joseph, MO 64501.
Full Policy As-Is view: This option is intentionally presented as a long-form legal document rather than summarized cards or accordions. In production, the ideal implementation is to render the exact current policy content from the same policy source/database so the "as-is" version is always identical to the legally maintained copy.
